Most of the time it pays for the exam, and about $100 towards the contacts.

I've never seen a plan pay "it all".

Normal vision coverage will cover 60-80% of the purchase cost, you can expect to have some out of pocket expense. Very few insurance companies provide 100% coverage for glasses and contact lenses anymore.

something like that, yes insurance should cover most of it! Anything major though they usually only cover up to a certain percentage; of course this is also dependent on your insurance carrier! The best thing for you to do is call your insurance company and just find out... it will take you like 5 minutes and then you won't have to worry any more!

good luck!!!

kikime
That depends on the coverage she has and on the deductible!

Normally vision insurance will not cover all the costs...just a majority of it. If I were you, I would place $200 to the side to cover any additional costs for your contacts...the glasses will probably be free with the exam but there are only so many designs that they let you choose from...usually the more unstylish designs. If you want a cute or designer pair it will probably cost you more...

You should be good with $200. :)

Vision insurance is a joke. You can count on the exam being covered, but depending on the coverage you may get very little towards the actual glasses. Only people who wear glasses usually get vision insurance so essentially the cost of vision insurance is the cost of the glasses spread out over 12-24 months. Usually you're better off negotiating at the store.

Nonetheless nobody here is going to have any idea what your plan does.

Just be patient and ask when you can.

Not likely. Usually insurance will cover up to a certain dollar amount for either contact lenses or eye glasses but only every other year. Plan on paying out of pocket. There is usually a copay. Since you wear contacts you probably won't need to pay the special contact lense appointment but I'm not sure. Getting both is expensive. (eye glasses and contact lenses)

There’s no way for any of us to know this. If you have an insurance card (which you should), call the number on the back of it.
