Buy health insurance before life insurance (if you can only have one or the other)
However, if you have someone that relies on your income (aging parents, children, or a spouse) you need to get life insurance as well. Get term life, the kind that you can buy for 10, 20, or 30 years and renew as you get older. It's much cheaper than whole or life insurance. Many people will try to guide you to those because they can build cash value. However, if you take the money that you save with buying term life and invest it, you'll actually make a better return and have more money than the cash value of the plan.
Also, if you don't have anyone that relies on your income- you don't have to buy life insurance (though some people like to have a small amount to cover the cost of funeral expenses so their family doesn't have to) |

You have to take care of yourself before you can take care of anyone else, right? So always get health insurance before life insurance, especially if you live in the States. Medical debt is one of the top reasons why people file for bankruptcy in the United States. The cost of health insurance depends on a variety of factors, including where you live, your age, and your medical history. I’ve included some links where you can find out more about health insurance. You might also want to check out MostChoice.com. It’s a Web site that delivers free online rate quotes on health and life insurance. You can also speak to local insurance representatives through the site without any obligation. All you need to do is fill out a short form so they can generate insurance quotes based on your location. Your information is kept completely confidential. Before you go there, however, try reading the articles I’ve listed below. They do a good job of explaining health insurance.

Health Insurance is for you, life insurance is for your dependents (spouse, children, etc).
If you are young and unmarried, buy health insurance first. Don't buy life insurance until you are married AND your spouse cannot live without your income. Life insurance gets more important as you get older and your income (and people to support) grows.
You will always need health insurance, because a trip to the hospital can cost you thousands of dollars PER DAY. |

That depends. If you have enough disposable income to cover Health and Life. Then buy both. If not enough, of course Health. You need to study how life insurance operates and do your homework. Do not overbuy Life Insurance. Use it as an investment vehicle. Best age to buy: between 30-35. Otherwise, the premium will be too high to afford. |

Health insurance is kinda a bare necessity these days. Unless you have cash to go to a doctor, most doctors won't see you with out insurance to cover you. I call "Life Insurance" by other words that are not as popular "Death Assurance." You can't insure that someone will live beyond their life span, or will not get into a fatal accident and die. We will all surely die. Life insurance and you need for it depend mostly on the debt you leave behind, your family and what they would need in you absence if you were to pass away suddenly. There are two kinds you can buy, the kind that you make monthly payment on for say 10 years and it is then renewable according to your age, and the amount usually goes up to renew. The other is the kind that builds a cash value that you can barrow against, and someday when you become retired the dividends that the account accumulates makes the value go up and you don't have to pay the premiums anymore, they pay for themselves. The second one is more expensive than the first, but is a better deal in the long run. How much you get depends on how much your family needs in the event of your death to pay off debts such as a house (some mortgages have death and disability policies you can purchase with the mortgage), cars credit cards, etc. Good Luck! I recommend New York Life, for more information. |

First off, health insurance is by far and away more important. Just a regular routine doctors visit can cost hundreds of dollars, even into the thousands if you see a specialist! Get health insurance, even if it is cheap and just covers the most catasrophic incidents, heart faulire, cancer, etc....
Life insurance is essentially useless you have a family, children, you have personal debt that would need to be covered, etc. Two types of life, whole and term. Term is useless unless you just want a small cash payout to somebody when you die. I have a whole plan that builds cash value, and I can borrow against it and if I live to a certain age I get the cash back +.
Get health insurance, you can't get life insurance if you don't have health insurance - I just made that up, but I bet it's true.
Between health and life insurance I pay almost 12,000 a year - 3,000 for a 1Mil whole life, and about 800/month for health.
GOOD LUCK! |

You should buy health insurance first, because it's needed the most! Once you are financially solid, then think about life insurance. If you are single or married with no kids, buy as little life insurance as possible. If you have one kid and you are the sole breadwinner, then at least $300,000 life ins. With each kid, add another $200,000 worth of insurance. Good luck. |

If healthy, buy life insurance 1st.
Not healthy, buy health 1st.
Life insurance can be bought reasonably cheap too.
Buy enought to take care of loved ones (and burial).
I have twice whats needed & pay very little.
Health ins on the other hand can be pricey. |
