LARGE MARGE | WoULD WARANTEE CoVER ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE? |
My daughter just bought her very first laptop. She is in Naval school, just graduated basic training. She was so proud of herself, able to buy it on her own, with her own money! She had an accident this morning, and it fell on the floor. It seems the monitor is the part broken. Being on base, no car, funds low, does anyone have any suggestions? I told her to ask around to see if there are any computer techs on base who might help. I thought maybe finding a computer repair shop in her area, and make the connection. She is just so upset right now, she cannot think of any solutions. It was her only outlet to connect with family and friends on her "off time". I know it sounds grim, but does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks for your time! |

U Need Not Worry Actually..!!
she have the BILL ?? if so.. there they might have entered the registration number of the product.. if not..!!
thn the company wont actually only rely on warranty sticker but also there will be printed registered number some where.. so u actually no need to bother just claim from replacement if it is properly registered product..!!
Best Wishes to See ur daughter's happiness back.. )) |

I don't see why you couldn't at least ask the place she purchased this about the chance of it being covered in this situation. What were the chances of this happening? I know it seems odd but weird things like this happen and a good store should take this into consideration, respectively. It's not every day that something like this happens and it wasn't on purpose. After all, it is her way of being able to communicate. I can see why she is proud of her purchase and I can see why she would be upset. I sure hope that this can get taken care of asap. Lots of luck! |

HMM. Typically a warranty would not cover that sort of thing. But you can always give it a try. Alternatively, you can see how much it would cost to change the screen. It might not be as bad as you think.
Also, in the mean time, she can hook it up to just a plain CRT moniter. |

no, Warranty does not cover accidental damage, have it repaired. |

Hopefully she did not buy the extended warranty at BEST BUY because they refuse all claims. |

Warranty generally covers "manufacturer's defect", which does NOT include dropping it.
If she's legally a resident of your household (which seems likely), YOUR homeowners insurance *might* cover part of it, if you have an HO-7 type form (high end policy), but most people don't have that type policy.
For the NEXT one, you CAN buy an endorsement on your homeowners policy, that covers computer equipment on & off premises, for things like "I dropped it". But any claims you put in under that endorsement COULD affect your whole policy, so you might want to think twice about doing it. |
