Most state rules won't allow the bill to get paid. However a lot of adjusters will pay it w/o the admission of liability. This usually means that we're going to deny the claim.
However there are major questions before the adjuster denies it. The main question to the doctor is "Did the drugs or alcohol in the person system is the major contributing cause of the claimant's injury?"
Remember your worker can still sue the insurance company for benefits. So as a owner better keep on top of it. |

Workers comp isn't going to pay for the drug test, if that's what you are asking.
But a positive drug test shouldn't affect whether or not the injury is covered, if that's what you're asking. |

No. Your work comp carrier will deny the claim if there is drugs or alcohol in the employee's system. |

Workman's comp only comes into play when you get injured while performing your job on the clock. If you trip and fall, you don't get workman's comp. Also, if you don't follow proper procedure when working and get injured, you may not receive it.
When getting a drug test before you start your job, you are not technically employed. So, you would not be covered. |
