I live in and work in NY.  I twisted my ankle going down the stairs while at work doing my job.  Luckily I grabbed hold of the railing to break my fall.  I was in a great deal of pain and immediately found that I could not walk.  I called the supervisor and told him what had happened.  He then called the boss hung up and told me to that he will go to HR to call for First Med.  He told me to sit tight.  He then came back with a girl from HR.  She asked me what happened.  I explained to her what just happened.  She asked if I was carrying anything while I was injured, I said no.  She said it was not work related.  I didn't quite understand what she meant.  She explained that if something had fallen on me or if was carrying something, then it would be work related.  She asked how long I worked in the company.  I told her 13 years.  Your a veteran she says, and I said yes.  She then repeated that it was not work related.  She said," I'm not even suppose to be doing this, Ive only been working here 3 months.  How do I get back upstairs?"  She walked off.  I then was told by my supervisor that I should start walking to go out.  I made it out but in extreme pain as I walked ever so slowly to reach my car.  I then called my general Doctor to tell them I'm coming in.  I told my Doctor exactly what had occurred at work.  He typed away at the computer and also took a look at my ankle.  It was swollen. I got an xray done and was referred to an orthopedist.  There was nothing broken.//////  Later on I found that the girl filed for Disability.  I made a lot of calls and I was told by a number of people, even Disibility themselves, that it is a workers comp case.  And so I filed on my own a c3 for workers comp. /// I'm at the point where "The Workers Comp" and "My personal medical Insurance" is battling it out as to who will pay for the medical expenses.   My question is...    Do I Need A Lawyer??????  please help!
