My mother recently past away at the age of 93 years. I was closing down her apartment and found that she had earned a $5,000 Life Insurance policy for her time served with an very well known electronic company. The Life Insurance policy was earned by employee's that worked more than 15 years, and over 55 years old. My mother had worked for this company for over 23 years and was at the age of 65 at the time of retirement. She had listed me as her beneficiary for this policy. When I called the company HRO to advised them that my mother had past away and that I found the papers of this Insurance policy, they told me that the policy expired 3 months earlier. Nowhere in mom's papers indicated there was an expiration date to this policy. Matter of fact I found an additional paper from their HRO office to my mom dated in 1999 indicating that she still had this Life Insurance policy. I had made copies of all the paper in regards to this policy and included the 1999 correspondence to the HRO. They have not responded back to me. Is there an violation of any Federal or State codes that would protect the beneficiaries of this type of Life Insurance policy? oldethomas
