The place you bought it from, should be willing to give you an apraisal for free. You bring in anything you want to insure - generally, insurance companies want a minimum value of $500 or such, to insure it.

Different companies-different plans. Some companies have built in the policy limit for jewelry and sometimes specific deductible. Ask you agent about it and how much is the limit if there is built in the policy coverage. If your jewelry aren't covered from the policy standard offer, you could schedule them after appraisal.
