Buisness has been cyclical in the past : example, See Ford 1Q profits for 2008.

For the same reason people invested in Polaroid until it filed for bankruptcy.

Doctor Deth
Ford just made a big profit last quarter - $100mill after losing money for years, so your analysis is faulty

Because smart investors know that the market goes up AND down not up OR down.

Investors realize the value of certain companies and the price for which they have to pay to buy into such values.

Many companies loose money and the price of their stock doesn't alway reflect it. Then again, there are some companies are worth more dean than alive, just look at their book value versus their market price.

Remember the only thing that drive the market is BUYERS, if buyers believe in a company the price will always go up, it's only when you don't have buyers will the price of the stock go down

Because they expect a turnaround. There is always a buyer for stocks if the price is "right" in their eyes.

Ted
Ford isn't losing money. Keep up with the news.
