Yeah -40% Yikes! I figured 15-20% would be the norm right now. Am I doing something wrong? Here's my investment breakdown...
48.25% FID CONTRAFUND
19.47% FID DISCIPLINED EQTY
15.84% FID CANADA
12.78% FID SOUTHEAST ASIA
2.43% FID DIVERSIFIED INTL
1.23% FID INTL DISCOVERY

Any help is much appreciated!!

-40% is pretty normal right now. The best advice I have is to ride it out. If you get out now, you realize that loss and you never get the money back.

I can't speak to your diversification strategy because I don't know what those funds are. However it looks like you are pretty well diversified. Remember that as you get closer to retirement, you should gradually move to more conservative investments. When you're young, be aggressive because you have time to recover from a market downfall. When you approach retirement be conservative because you don't have time to recover from major downturns.

"I figured 15-20% would be the norm right now"

There's your problem. A 15-20% expected return is absurd. It's also a common assumption, which is why the market was seriously overvalued.

I've lost 20% over the past two weeks. EVERYBODY is losing so no need to worry about you as an individual. If you are in the market you will lose right now in the bear market. I'm diversified but I am also in more aggressive investments at my age. I am not worried as long as I keep contributing. It's all about Dollar Cost Averaging.

Nope you aren't doing anything wrong, this is what is happening to retirement accounts, some dont even trust them anymore and have closed some that have been open for many years, you would have to pay a large penalty but by the time you could get to your money people think there would be nothing left. I would recommend you wait and see what happens or talk to a broker.

I would pull all of your money out and save it some other way, like invest in gold, or treasury bonds, something that is garanteed you will make money in the end
