A goal for investing, how do I do it?
My goal is to take my predetirmend amount of money and invest it in such a way, that at the end of ten years or less, each year I will get back at least as much as the amount I put it. Say, if I put in $1000 as an example, it might not earn $1000 in the begining, but by the time ten years was up I could count on it generating $1000 more every year.
Does that even make sense? If so, how could I do that? Are there any limitations on this kind of thing? How often would I be able to draw out of that investment, or would it only work for something with a predetermined date?
Sorry if I ask too many annoying questions...I really want to figure this out, but its not my strong suit...I understand it but it honestly puts me to sleep when I try to figure it out on my own >_<

So you want you interest out of the investment to equal the money you put in after just 10 years - thats way to short nearly impossible to do this. Lets say you get 10% interest. For the interest to be $1000, your original $1000 in would have to grow to $10,000. Still at 10% interest it would take about 24 years for your intial investment to grow 10 fold (more if there are taxes).

To accomplish what you want you would need to get about 18-19% interest (again assuming no taxes). I don't think there is anywhere you can consistently get that return, so you may have to adjust the problem (ie go for a 10% return and wait 24 years).

Anyhow, I wouldn't worry about all this. Just find the best place to put your money, put it in there (probably going to be the stock market so no guarantee of what your return will be anyhow) and make it into however much you can after 10 years (or however many years).

It depends on what kind of return you're looking to get. If you're hoping to only offset inflation and gain a bit more than that, either a high yield online savings account or a CD would suit you just fine.

Slightly higher rewards than that? Invest in a broad-based index fund that tracks the stock market. Over a ten year period, the stock market has historically almost always gone up (over a 20 year period, it has historically ALWAYS gone up).

Invest in Mutual Fund: You should know the meaning of mutual funds, before you choose to invest in mutual funds. These funds are a type of security that can be traded on the stock market, allowing shareholders to buy and sell shares in the funds. The revenue generated by purchase of shares is used by mutual fund manager to buy more shares of specific stocks, bonds, and other market securities and money market instruments.

Since the prices of the stocks, bonds, and other securities held by the mutual fund vary, the value of the fund changes. The average value of every share of the mutual fund is fixed daily based on the total value of the underlying securities held by the fund.
