For Share Market Investment PAN Card is a must.
You first need to open a DEMAT A/C thru which the trading would take place.
You also need to select a Share Trading Portal thru which u intend to trade.
Some of the portals are;

Icici Direct
Sharekhan
India Bulls
Motilal Oswal

There is no such thing as minimum Limit for investing. It depends on your invest capability. However, the Bank Account that u maintain for share trading may ask you to have a MINIMUM BALANCE AMOUNT.

Investment in Shares is subject to Market Volatality.
(Just a Word of Caution)

hi,
1.start SB account in a bank
2.start D-mat account with banks (axis, hdfc, icici, sbi etc) or with brokers (geojit, motilal, karvy etc)
3. start trading account with hdfc securities, icici securities of motilal, geojit etc

then, dive in the market. be so rational to avoid losses. study the fundamental from websites. do it cautiously

all the best

2 grand if companys are below say 60 to 80 cents a share, that way you will keep the risk factor to minium and you should just forget that you have 2 grand in the stock market...remember any monies going in the market is money u dont care about!! be it 2 grand or 22 grand, this is cash that is doing nothing ,and is just sitting in the bank or under the mattress,if this is the only cash you have then dont! put it in the stock market,,,the best advise I can give is,get financialy educated before you get started ,ie read some books by warren buffet to start with ,understand financial jargon, know what interest rates are all about etc etc,,,,may the force be with you ,,,,

You need to contact a broker and open a Demat account, at the first place.

First find out which broker suits you best (on the basis of services offered and brokerage charges). Currently, Reliance Money has teh lowest charges. Some of the leading brokers are:
Reliance money
India infoline
ICICI direct

Go to the website of the broker you have chosen and choose 'Contact us', they'll give you a call and send their representative to meet you.

The minimum amount can be as little as Rs. 20,000.

it's simple open one D-MAT ACCOUNT, from any bank, better is icici, go through broker if you like for assistance first. If you have know your friend or a person having good knowledge of share market then no need to take advice from broker.
You should have PAN card,
You should have minimun operating amount in your base account linked to d-mat account. You can invest maximum three times the value of your origional account deposit.
Slowly start investing on longterm bases dont try short term shares initially.
Read getting started novice assistance in website of sharekhan.

You'd need to google it, there are a lot of things you need to know before you should invest, Minimum amount could even be a dollar per share or 100 dollars per share so you are given room.

if you have demate a/c with any bank , can invest in any company. actually investing means buying any share of a co . minimum amt depends on the mkt value of the share .
