Are any of the financials looking attractive yet?
I think there will come a point when financials will become ridiculously oversold. How far do you think that is?

The XLF is trading in a sideways channel between $13 and $18. This will go on until volatiolity disipates.

well, not really

I think another 30% decline is on the way

I'd buy some C when it reaches single digit

and buy some JPM and BAC

Personally I think that we are there. As long as you have a long term time horizon, I would think that current valuations are beyond fairly attractive. The government will not allow for certain financial institutions to fail. This has already been proven. They have unlimited access the the fed and have their hooks into 40% of America's finances in one way or another. A few years out we will be looking back at Citi at 11 and BAC at 21 saying that they were screaming buys. If smaller institutions fail the Office of Thrift Supervision will basically hand over the deposits and branches to these big boys because it won't count against the 10% rule (no one bank can have more than 10% of the nations deposits). Here they are;

C- Citi
JPM- JPMorgan Chase (Bought 190 Billion worth of deposits and branches for 1.9 Billion from the help of the O.T.S. WaMu buyout)
BAC-Bank of America

Buy 'em and sock 'em away for a decade. compound interest off the dividends will make you wealthy. Good luck!

I was all about the financials a few months ago. I really liked BAC because they are an industry leader and I thought they would be the safest bet. Instead they cut their dividend for the first time in 30 years, offered more shares to dilute the ones you already have, needed additional capital, and extremely overpaid for a few corporations who were going under.

When all of those things happen to a leader, then I can't accurately decide what is oversold. So I am staying away and sticking with those addicting cigarette companies.

If you're thinking long-term (5+ years), BAC, WFC and C are good buys.
