Are the scammers getting less greedy? this was sent to me earlier?
From: ROBERT BASIL (ESQ)
ROBERT& ASSOSCIATES,
4 Albert Embankments, London
SE1 7SR, United Kingdom.

Attention: MY GOOD FRIEND

I am Barrister Robert Basil. I have a client Mr.Mark who bears the
same name with you,a foreigner who used to work with Mekon Associates
Company in London.
On the 2nd of August 2003, my client, his wife and their three
children were involved in a car accident along Manchester Express Road.
All occupants of the vehicle unfortunately lost their lives.
Since then I have made several enquiries to your Embassy to locate
any of my client's extended relatives, this has also proved
unsuccessful. After these several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to
trace his relatives over the internet, to locate any member of his
family but of no avail, hence I contacted you.
I have contacted you to assist me in repatriating the money left
behind by my client before they got confiscated or declared
unserviceabl

I used to get this every day before I switched to yahoo.

The names they use are interesting.

"I represent the estate of the late Mademoiselle de Baron Von Plato, which is twenty million Zambawie Dollars, and I need you place it in your bank account, trusting you because I know you are totally honest, and the late Baron wanted to make sure his family was well taken care of".

It's almost funny.

...until you get involved. Because once you reveal your bank account, say goodnight to whatever funds you have in there and say hello to Baron Von Playdoh".

I got a similar one about a year ago. I replied saying "sure I'll take the money!" And they asked me for my credit card number so they could credit it!!!! I wonder how many people fell for that one!

I doubt they are getting less greedy I just think they are trying to do new scams in order to trick you.

You know,these losers are everywhere!

I received a letter a while ago from some Guy in Africa.

Claiming he needs me to help him collect his funds and dispense the funds to charities.

As far as I know, you can send these spam letters to yahoo.

I don't know how to send it to yahoo though.

I guess it tells somewhere in their terms of service.

God Bless

Scam, scam, scam, scam!!!!!

I've got one to top that. This "woman" from South Africa sent me an e-mail stating that she was a widow and has cancer and is dying and wants to give me 4 million US dollars to be given to charity works and that the Lord has led her to me. I have even been contacted by her alleged security company that's supposed to be issuing me this money. I have been corresponding with them both to try to pull out the scam. So far they have asked me for my bank account number so they can transfer these funds. When told that I would not be sending them this information, they wanted me to come to South Africa and do the business deal. Again when told that I was not going to do this, they said to go to their affiliate branch located in Toronto, Canada. I said no, and they said they could send the check to my home, but that I would need to purchase insurance on the check in the amount of $1,370.88 and that as soon as they have received payment, they would issue me the check. So, I don't know about less greedy, but if you were to dig deeper into that scam, you will find that they will want something from you before they can release millions of dollars to you. It's actually quite amusing, but I often wonder how many people have actually fallen for it.

It is best to report this to spam@ftc.gov, or to your local US Postal Inspector. If you contact these people, you won't get any real answers. This is what is known as the Nigerian 4-1-9 scam. This is just another take on it. The Better Business Bureau has a lot of information about this stuff.
