Wow, chill! We're not going into a massive soup-kitchen status depression--just a slight period of stagflation. This occurs about every 5-7 years, and is completely normal. It's just a chapter in the business cycle, it'll pass.

Please help? how? Don't follow your logic - the low rates have to do with the credit market.

Yes there will be a Depression, on average every fifty years, we are overdue. Depressions are caused by lack of money flow which is exactly what is happening now with banks tightening their credit. The Government is trying to pump money into the economy to prevent a Depression. Unfortunately the problem is bigger than what the government can handle. The reason we aren't in a Depression now is because another factor is involved, consumer spending remains strong, and that will end soon.

of course!

You can stop worrying,

There are too many controls and stop gaps in place today that will prevent another "great depression".

Today the US is part of the world economy which we never had in the 20's or 30's

Reaction time to problems has increased substantially since then, even the government is getting better (well almost).

Don't worry about having another depression or terrorist our biggest danger to our economy is Liberalism.

No just a recession.

No we are not. Actually, scholars think that high interest rates were what caused the great depression. Low rates stimulate business activity and should eventually promote growth. Problem this time around is that there is alot of inflation, which is not helped by low rates. Overall, no depression, but your guess is as good as mine on the severity of the recession. tba

DEFINITELY. if someone doesn't step in and handle the situation properly.

DON'T BUY ALL THAT "ITS NOT THAT BAD" stuff that the politicians are dishing out. They are lieing so that the people don't go crazy before it actually happens.

The stock market is programed to shut down long before it reaches Great Depression porportions. While we are in a slow down, there will be no massive soup lines like there were back in '29.
