Certaintly don't think so, I believed it is just a minor correction. Who know? I could be wrong, which I did as many time in the past. I'd take the current correction as the buying opportunity, but be sure to look for the leaders.

Check the gold and the money markets.

The stock market is a sham, propped up by laundered drug money loans and paper petrodollars.

Learn to use a shovel. This isn't going to be a bear, it's going to be a "wolverine in your tent" market.

Not really, since we're almost at all time highs these days. It's been down a little lately, but the definition of a bear market is a lot more than the slight downturn recently. Look at any chart of the S&P and you can see the long term trend that we've been seeing.

Richardicus
i think its more like a donkey market.

The bear market is about to approach ONLY if Fed starts raising interest rate again. They can print a lot of $$$ to kill all bears, but hyperinflation will devaule the $$$ to a point like Italian lira. So, they are in chessmate. Gold will take off and never look back.

vitaminkid
no this is hardly a market

definition of a bear market:
decline of 20% from top.

also, you never ABSOLUTELY know you are in a bear market until its about over. We in one now? Not likely, more a correction and likely to trade sideways for awhile (read as great oppty to make money here).

No. At the moment we are in a Bull Market that has pulled back or is under pressure.

bear market is an oppossite to bull market. sometimes it is also term as bearish and bullish.

but i buy bull..... get it

MARKET HAD 3 YEARS OF BULL RUN RALLY. NOW THE CORRECTION WAS OVER DUE.MARKET IS GETTING CORRECTED.HOW EVER THE WAY IT CRASHED THAT WAS NOT PREDICTED.
ANY WAYS DON'T GET PANNIC FALLING MARKET IS VERY GOOD OPPOURTUNITY FOR BUYIN OR AVERAGING.

Patrick L
I say we are not bearish. The recent drop is a normal (overdue) correction getting some air out the prices. The correction was a bit harder and quicker tha generally bexpected, but that's ok. It might continue (with ups and downs) to slide down a bit more until it's more clearly what the interest rates will do. Also keep in mind that a lot of "people" do sell in may....

Flush
No. The commonly accepted definition of a bear market is when major indices (Dow Jones, S&P) fall 20% from their high, which is not currently the case.
