ABC | Are you an Investing genius? |
If you are, then you'll be able to explain which investment sectors are the ones worth investing in for the next six years and which investment sectors are the ones that must be avoided?
Energy Sector (Oil), your investing opinion needed?
General Retail & Entertainment sector Good-Bad?
Telecommunications Sector - Nokia, Vodafone C &W? |

Energy sector. Too high. May go higher, but you will be investing near the top. Hold
General retail and entertainment. Good future. People are getting more prosperous and are asking for more free time. Yields are reasonable. Buy
Telecommunications. Yields are low and earnings modest. Too many players, are cutting each other's throats. The Far East countries will take over this industry. Avoid.
I have not charged you for this advice. Next time I will. |

Yes I am. But I'm not going to tell you (and the other million people on this site). If I did I would only be diluting my opportunity for profit. |

Energy should be speculative for atleast another decade.
(i'd recommend production companies; not oil itself)
dont know a lot about retail besides its returns are not too high. i recomment to look for basic retail companies and invest longterm.
telecommunications is only gorwing larger and larger. Rogers in Canada is implementing 3G technology as we speak so 3G phones will be needed. CDMA is diminishing as GSM is the world standard. i recomment buying into GSM companies and lookin at cellphone production, like Nokia, who focuses on GSM. |

Of the sectors you list, the energy sector appears to have much going for it, for the following reasons:
1) The stable, dominant players are relatively inexpensive, per their p/e ratios.
2) Industry barriers to entry are very high. (Do you know anyone who can start a business drilling wells in the ocean, Russia or Saudi Arabia, or build a refinery?)
3) New technology will take years and years to successfully implement.
4) Demand in the previously-underdeveloped world (look at recent demand increases in China and India) is demaning more and more energy, and the supply situation isn't going to get much better--if at all.
Choosing a winner in technology is very difficult. Technology can change fairly quickly, leaving today's winners in the dust. Retail is a very tough, very competitive game.
I've included the top US energy companies' web pages. Please check out their investors' sections, which are filled with information on the industry's outlook. |

Lo siento, I am not an investing genius.
But there are certain trends that are pretty obvious.
1. They are not making any more oil, and the demand for oil does not seem to be deminishing. In fact there is not even any attempt in the U S to reduced demand. Coupled with the oil situation there are the alternative fuels--coal. And the alternative means of transportation--rail. Have you looked at the current demand for rail transportation? I recently flew 4 flights on Delta. They were sold out. If Delta can not make money with sold out flights, how can they make money? Air transport looks like a lost proposition.
2. I wish I were completely wrong but the situation in the U S does not look promising. Balance of trade deficit in the trillions, budget deficit in the trillions, consumer debt in the trillions, unfunded liabilities in the trillions, health care costs in the tens of trillions. Manufacturing and services fleeing by the boat load. Not much of a future. Better to move assets to where there are greener pastures--India, China, Japan, Europe. Better safe than sorry. |

Energy is good, but you have to pick your spots. Some are overpriced, but there are alot of bargains right now. Natural gas is actually down due to oversupply, but that will change as winter approaches. Hurricanes also give energy a big boost. Take a look at GSX, NGS and CHK. There are lots of good buys in energy right now. |
