all are in the lowest band only. if you buy and wait few years you will have chances.

if you invest in fixed deposit in nationalised bank, you don;t need to worry

if you are a long term investor with a high risk appetite then you can buy now. you are sure to make good profits once the markets recover. Imp: Buy only large caps. forget the mid and small caps for now...

If you are a trader - better stay away...

If you are looking for short term gains - this is not the right time. let the market show some stability. wait and watch...

This is a nice time to invest long term. but expecting short term gains is something you cant given the current market scenario...

all the best

Cheers,
Anand

the market has still not bottomed out. if you want to buy don't buy at one go buy some if market goes down further buy again. buy in steps you won't loose much if it goes down further.

Wait.

Wait until you are smart enough to not come to Y!A for advice.

If you have no need for the money you are investing now for the next 5-20 years, it would be a good time to invest. I am waiting 3 more weeks - there are a lot of hedge fund redemptions still looming, as well as regular mutual fund declarations to be made. The market bottom has not occured yet, but will, and then I'll start up again, even tho it will be a long slow recovery for a year (then faster increase after that).

Just wait. We are in a one or two year recession which has a long way to go before stocks move back up.

Commodity prices are too low. Demand will rise quickly when the economy picks up and so will the stock prices. Oil and gas companies. Mining stocks.

If you do not need the money any time soon (within 5 or 6 years) then this quarter and next quarter are the times to buy. The main thing that should be looked at is valuation. How many times earnings is the stock trading? Average valuation (P/E, price of outstanding shares/expected earnings) is about 15. A lot of good companies are trading below 10, cisco, J&J (was not sure about now). Anything that is a good earner like procter and gamble, coke, mcdonalds, etc... would be a good investment between now and the next 6-9 months. Once again DO NOT invest in the market if you need the money soon, on average it takes about 5 years to regain the value lost in a recession. If you need the money sooner, look into fixed income; like bonds, or t-bills.
