I worked at Bank of America for 7 years and their stock split twice while I was there. Once it reaches about $80-90 a share it usually spilts. The only thing is that it's at 40.81 now and it has been like that for atleast a year, maybe two, but that I would blame on our economy. Regardless, Bank of America stock is pretty much solid and secure. |

I'm not a huge fan of Bank of America, the financial sector as a whole has more bad news coming. BAC has heavy exposure to the credit markets, and there are more losses to come in that area. I can't imagine it splitting anytime soon. As far as Visa goes, that's a different story, they receive fee for service, and is a little more insulated from the credit crisis, especially because VISA itself is not a lender, they don't issue credit. I do think its pricey though, and there most recent 10-k suggests they actually have negative earnings. I would like to wait and see there next quarter financials before making any recommendation there. I wouldn't expect a recent IPO to split anytime soon. |

It is a golden opportunity to buy Bank of America on the cheap. |

When it comes to the financial stocks, I'd rather be too late to get back in rather than too early -not worth the risk. Dividend yield of BAC is attractive though and they have deep pockets - doubt it would split anytime soon, as others have said.
Remember that Visa does not issue credit to people, all they are is processing center. |

Who can really say? I think most financial experts might stay away from answering this question especially with the current condition of the markets right now. There is talk of a credit card crash to follow the mortgage crash. If you want to buy in Big Banks and Visas, take a fast joy ride and do it now for a short-term and sell out before the fall. I am not a financial advisor, so I might be off the mark with this advise altogether. But think about this, when people can't buy gas with cash, what do they do then...steal it? or use credit cards? maybe both. |
