Best investment to make with $10,000?
Im 21 yrs old. I have 10,000 I want to invest. I have a few ideas but im wondering if anyone has come across a really good way to make decent money out of only an initial 10,000 investment. I know its a difficult one but any help would be appreciated!!

You better have guts. Take $4,000 and get a good dividend paying large cap or two. MMM, PG, MO, JNJ, PFE. Take $4,000 and buy two volatile low priced even penny stocks ALD, AMD, DIVX, DSCO, MOVE. Trade on price moves. On ups sell 7% of holdings on 11% increase; on downs buy 11% holdings on 7% declines. Never spend all your cash.

When cash goes to $4,000 add a new position.

This will make you money without going crazy if you set stop limits. Long term it'll make you rich. This portfolio should only be looked at once a day.

I would say put it in a safe secure bank and do some serious research into buying a house to use as a renter.

You could look for the house for an entire year or more until you find something that fits your needs as an investment.
The current economic climate is excellent for someone in your position and you should jump all over it, remember you have the power so negotiate prices down.

When prices return to normal and growth increases you will be able to build a portfolio of properties based on this one investment.

I work with a guy who did this since 1990 and he now has over 50 properties and millions in assets in trusts (so the banks can't get it). Some people will say yes but he will lose everything now, no that's not the case. If you put money away and keep equity in the properties you can still live this kind of meltdown and even profit from it.

You are 21 yrs old and have a lot of time to invest in something more risky than a savings account. Consider name-brand stocks with at least 5-10yr time horizon.

The economy is very volatile right now so buy small and gradually.

Currently I'd go the highest savings account route, as somebody above suggested, and watch the market. once it starts getting back to normal - the trick will be to pinpoint this - I'd go with a blue-chip stock which pays decent dividends and allows you to reinvest through a DRIP.

If you have got the credit, buy a house from a bank that was repo'd and then rent it out. Just think, when you are 40-50 years old and it is paid off, you will have 1-2k coming in month after month for the rest of your life. No other investment can offer you that.

Put it in a savings account.

Watch out for the banks on the top rates .A lot of the time they will only keep this rate for a few months then drop it.
Capital One Bank has been high for a few years but needs 10k to open to get the 3.55 rate

The only way would be to wait until the bear market ends and then almost any stock you buy will go up.
