I'm not trying to be hard on you but I dislike this type of question at this time.
People should be asking this question when the markets are at new highs, not lows, but they never do. Most people are backwards when it comes to risk.
Investment is all about risk. You are paid for risk. Risk right now is way down with the market down over 40%. It was HIGH when we hit new highs last year. But most incorrectly see it the other way around.
Investing is about staying on the best side of the risk/reward ratio. Avoiding all risk will result in little or no gain. You want to invest when the potential reward is much greater than the potential risk of loss. As long as you try to stay on the high reward side you will always make money eventually.
For example, now, the potential upside rewards are growing by the day and the potential fall for the market is becoming less. If you are on the correct side of that, if your logic is valid, even if the market falls some then the upside becomes higher. If you can see that, it means that even if the market goes against you, you become more correct in your assessment, not less.
Worry more about risk when markets experience "irrational exuberance".
You don't get hurt falling off the bottom of a cliff.
You get hurt falling from the top. |

If you are investing less than $100k, bank CD's are better than goverment issues. The yeild will be higher and they are insured against default. |
