Buying shares/stocks?
can you provide me a list of companies that offer direct investment plan thingy. i know mcdonalds and target offers it, but there fees are quite a bit more than the fees of my current mutual funds i have. and yah i know the risks of buying stocks is greater than the risks of buying stocks,
There are really a whole pile of them, over 500, on the US (and Canadian) exchanges. A few lists are below.
Another good way to buy these things and have them reinvested automatically without all the paperwork is through Sharebuilder (The Canadian version is Shareowner). Initial investments don't need to be large, and subsequent reinvestment from dividends is automatic and without charges. It's a decent alternative to mutual funds if you like selecting your own stocks.

I own shares of Thornburg Mortgage through their drip. No fees, $500 minimum to start. Great dividend reinvested at a discount.

You may also like to investigage an investment system.
A system that over the last 15 years averaged 49% p.a.
The system uses a proven selection criteria, and lists exactly what stocks to buy, when to buy, and when to sell. You perform the trades yourself through your own broker, so you are always completely in charge of what is happening.
So if Mutual Funds are not giving you what you want, then try the stocksmonthly system.
