No, if it's a pension you can't touch it at 44 I'm afraid. The minimum age for private/company pensions is 50, going up to 55 in 2010.
State pension you don't get til 60/65. |

It is not really advisable to do this before you are 50 and in some cases the policy would not allow access.
If you really need to do it then ask the policy provider what your options are
If you can cash it in , think very carefully how much you would be losing out on for the sake of hanging on for a few years |

YES, YOU CAN !!! But only commercial properties at present in the UK.. Get yourself a 'SIPP' self invested personal pension. There are loads of them out there but visit www.H-L.co.uk or ring 08001382121 for a free no obligation starter pack, The sooner you start the better off you will be. Don't let the pru blag you with the exit penalties as it will be classed as a transfare not an opt-out. I have seen a loophole somewhere that allows domestic properties into your sipp but not your own house/dwelling, unfortunatly... Good luck |

Depends on the details of your pension plan - no one here can say for sure. |

Yes....but there is usually a big penalty for cashing in early, so make sure you find that out ahead of time :-) |

Because your pension contributions have been made either by you and or your employers on a tax free basis, I believe that all you can do with the money in the Pru is to buy a pension. I think typically £100,000 pension pot will buy an annual pension of around £7000 per year when you are 65 years old. Obviously it will buy a much smaller sum at 44 since theoretically you will require at least 21 years more payment at that age. I do not think you can use this money for anything else accept buying yourself a pension. |

If you are in the UK, you cannot surrender a pension policy or cash it in and if Pru have told you that you can't then unfortunately you will have to take their word for it. If you're looking for alternative investments such as property, you could consider a SIPP (Self Invested Personal Pension) but you need to take Independant Financial Advice before making any decisions.
Good luck! |
