Can a person make money from day trading?

I'm just wondering if a person can make money from day trading either stocks or futures? If anyone does do this how much does he/she make and if its regular? I've got some money to blow so just thinking of placing a couple of trades.

I'm not looking to earn a living, i already earn a good living in my other business....I just want to know if there are people out there that make money from day trading.

Yes. but don't forget you can lose money day trading also. I myself think it's a terrible time to get into stocks, but it's your money.

I say yes, it depends how much time you want to spend researching the market and how much money you're willing to risk. Many stocks cycle in a predictable pattern. You just need to know where to enter & exit. If you have time & a passion for it you will be successful.

Yes, but there's much risk in it. If you're going to invest, why not just buy some well established companies that pay regular dividends and sit on them for a couple of decades?

If you decide to take this mission, t's the most challenging task you will ever decide to do. It's more stressful than a air traffic controller's job, and changes more quickly. If you decide to take this mission, forget ever having a lunch hour again, or an evening with the kids; you gotta update your charts, check the reports and news, and figure out what the heck is going on in Europe this time.

There's a psychological side that beginners don't see, and without addressing your fear/greed and human emotional instincts, you are doomed to lose. Controlling types of people like doctors and lawyers are the worst traders, because the markets refuse to be controlled, and some people take it personally and are offended by the illogical movements of price.

Most people have a problem with uncertainty and risk. They actually think somebody knows which direction the Dow will go tomorrow or in the next few minutes. But the future is always uncertain, so how do you deal with that? If you concentrate on risk, you might stick around long enough to learn something, but most beginners focus on potential profits that never come.

The question is not "can people make money," but rather can YOU make money day trading. Unfortunately, there's no way to know unless you invest years of sleepless nights and 100-hr weeks of hard work and reading hundreds of books over years testing your theories and developing more theories and it just goes on and on.

It has very little to do with how hard you work or how much you know, like most professions. Most people think that because they've mastered something, they can master trading. Lots of smart, intellectual, hard-working people have failed to become traders, and usually give up everything they own several times before they finally quit.

If you're just doing it for the money, don't even try. There are lots of better and easier ways to make money. You have to love trading to succeed, and devote yourself to it to even find out.
