Yes, but I am pretty sure you need a margin account becase it take the stocks 3 business days to settle.

Barney
If you are addressing the US markets, YES you can sell the same day that you buy if you heard otherwise, you were given bad information.

Whenever you buy, all purchases must be paid in full before you sell, therefore you must have sufficient monies in your account to cover the purchase.

If you sell before making payment, your account will be restricted for 90 days or until monies are received to cover the purchase and you can not use the proceeds of the sale to cover the purchase.

You do not need margin, as one responder stated

Aye, you can buy and sell as many times as you like (good commission.. only joking) This is UK don't know about other markets, but I can't see why not, that's what trading is.

of course you can

you can even sell it the next minute if you want but you probably end up losing money that way

herny
yes, and i think you can try overnight income stock. it more simple, workable, profitable and no risk stock investment.

The Chosen One
yes you can but I recommend an online brokerage firm that has good beginner qualitys {like tutorials or an easy to understand set up}, i use zecco, better then schwab, etrade, etc. they are the only ones with free stock trades, no minumums..all the others will charge you fees for trading, but compare and see for yourself. Good luck and happy investing!

yes.that is called as day trading..as per current regulations if you make 4 or more day trades in 5 consecutive business days, you will be treated as pattern day trader...and you are required you maintain an amount of $25,000 in your margin account......

please check with your brokerage firm to confirm.
