Can my partner add to my mortgage without my signature?
I am the second person on mortgage

SweetBrunette
I do not understand your question.

Your joint mortgage could not be increased without your signature (or forged signature).

Only by forging your signature and that's fraud.

Mallorie
If the property is in both of your names, you would have to sign in order for an additional mortgage to be added to the title.

In some cases I have seen banks or local credit unions issue a signature loan as a line of credit. But it can not be a true 2nd mortgage unless both parties have signed.

if in joint names no, if he has already he has forged your signature. This happens all the time so be wary.

Not if the mortgage is in joint names

No, if the mortgage is in your name then only you can make changes to it.

What do you mean? Take out an additional mortgage? I don't think he can "add" to the present mortgage without your signature unless you've given him Power of Attorney, which I wouldn't do; Why so many mortgages? Something smells rotten in Denmark, if you ask me...

If the mortgage is in your sole name NO ONE can add to it without your signature of written authority. (Look out for forged signature though)

NO, not without your approval.

Depends on the nature of the mortgage. The important thing is the fact that you ask. I shows you are not comfortable! Anything that gives sleepless nights is not worth having. It absorbs a lot of your energy. "Lord give me the courage to change what can be changed: the patience to accept what cannot be change and the wisdom to know the difference!"
