Can you use banknotes stuck back together??
I have a bag of shredded bank notes and was thinking about mixing and matching them and sticking them back together with sticky tape, but would I be able to actually use it as legal tender in a shop??

Yep, there was a bunch of schoolkids who found a bag of shredded cash recently..it was on the news. They handed it in at a station and nobody claimed so they got to keep it.. They got their whole class sellotaping them back together! totally legal.. bit dodgy though.. how does someone acquire a bag of shredded bank notes?..

Motet Galaxy
You could try, as long as you don't end with a nine bob note.

yes.

as long as the serial numbers match up yes, but maybe you should take them to your bank and ask them to change them for you, you may find that shops refuse them and this can be embarassing, they have the right to refuse them if they are as bad as you make them sound! my dog chomped on my purse when she was a puppy, shredding the notes, the bank changed them for me, good luck with yours x

technically as long as the two serial numbers are intact you could pass it as a good note, some people might refuse but some banks would take it and then sent for final destruction. by shredding.
The trick is to get the serial numbers right.

Yes but you have to make sure the serial numbers match up.
Not sure where you are from, but over here in the uk they are on the top left and right hand sides of the note. (I think)

Yes if they match.

oliprofessor
No, you may not mix and match them as serial numbers etc must match; the shop owner may else consider them counterfeit and refuse sale.

What you need to do is take them to a bank who will send them off to the Bank of England who will reconstruct them and give you the full value for them in new notes.

david.hutchings3@btopenworld.com
yes as long as you do not have two different numbers on one note
