So Im thinking of buying stock into either company and am trying to figure out which will do better in the long term. Both have a big international presence (good for the weakening dollar) and very similar finanical statistics (Sales Growth, Earnings, Net Income Growth etc.). However, Pepsi owns Tropicana, Dole, Gatorade and Frito Lay so its more diversified than just sodas (which could be good long term). But I kind of think Coca Cola may have a slightly bigger international presence which may make it better. I don't know, what do you guys think?? Which company will do better in the long term?
I was making the same comparison today. Your points are all valid, but I'm leaning toward PEP:
1. By my calculations the valuation looks a little better. (I realize that is somewhat subjective.)
2. PEP seems to have better international growth. Visit their websites and checkout the latest annual reports.
2. KO has had a better run recently. Which means they may be more prone to a pull back. (Over the long term their performance seems to flip-flop depending on the period.)
Note that the above points are subject to further evaluation and confirmation before a trade is placed.
