Difference between mutul fund and fixed diposits?

madhesh1988
Both are different in their character.
Mutual fund is a risk borne investment and the fixed deposit is a conservative options.
If you are a risk taker you can choose mutual fund.

Another option is if you have more than rs. 10 lakh as a investment you can choose this option. You can invest it all in fixed deposit and you can use the option of taking the money every month of interest. and invest it in SIP of a good mutual fund.

There are some other fund like debt funds which you can get a returns of 8-10%

Mutual Fund is a portfolio investment wherein you invest in diversified stocks of different companies and in return you will get dividends which depends on company's profit.

Fixed Deposit is a type of bank account where you have to deposit the money with the bank for a fixed period of time say one or more than one year, returns on the deposit you will get is a fixed rate of interest.

Risk involved in mutual fund is more compared to fixed deposit.

But More Risk More Returns!!!

Mutual funds are investment companies that pool money from investors at large and offer to sell and buy back its shares on a continuous basis and use the capital thus raised to invest in securities of different companies.

A fixed deposit account allows you to deposit your money for a set period of time, thereby earning you a higher rate of interest in return. Fixed deposits also give you a higher rate of interest than a savings bank account.
