loose diamonds do not unless they are flawless and coloured naturally. diamonds in jewelry will increase in valve after many years. this is because the jewelry is valuable, no the diamond. you great grandmothers diamond wedding ring would be very valuable today. but I do also collect diamonds because one day they will be hard to find. not in my life time or maybe not even in my kids, but one day. the markup up on diamond jewelry at the store is incredible, sometimes over 1200%.

i always thought the minute you walk out of the jewellers your diamonds are not worth as much as you just paid.
Just like a new car leave the car yard and its not worth as much any longer.
