Do flea markets sell fake gold?
I am talking about the ones that have the little shops on the weekends that sell and buy. My reason asking is I found this one little shop at the flea market. I asked the guy if he had any 14k gold chains around 15 grams. He was like no i don't then took the chain of his neck he was wearing. He had like 3 chains on his neck. I have owned gold before so I have an idea what is real and is not but not 100 percent. He told me out the door for 250 I told him great deal but once i held the chain it did not feel right and did not look right. Was very dull looking even after he cleaned it up. I have owned a fake ones before and it was exact image of that. I turned him down he new what i was thinking that it was not good. Do you think I was right or wrong. Again the chain was 14k 15 grams 250 out the door.
Ps: In my mind i was so upset this guy tried to hustle me. I went to a legit expensive well known jeweler and got ripped off. 14K chain 10 grams for 400. I feel like its better then getting hustled for 250 for fake crap
I would never buy anything from a flea market. Especially jewelry!

You were right to following your instincts. They will look out for your interests more than anything else...and most certainly, a flea market operator. Many such operators hope to snare just a few innocent folks over the course of a weekend as it will often support the operator for a whole week.
The only way to sensibly purchase anything is through knowing about the item you want to buy and then...compare the offer to others.
