Do you see the American economy really getting close to the recession?
According to a recent survey, 8 out of 10 Americans believe right now the economy is not good at all.

Although it is not clearly apparent at this moment, some economics experts warn the American economy can slip into the recession or depression.

Do you believe it will happen?

I believe evenly %50 on both sides; America could experience recenssion, or it can be lucky enough to avoid.

I do believe it will.
I believe the middle class will dissipate and it will be separated into either upper class and lower class. The tipping point is at hand, it is just now a matter of time.

With the debt the United States is in and still asking to borrow money, the housing market, inflation without raise of wages, gas prices, etc. You take a look at it, a person in corporate America can make six figures, however after taxes that's closer to $50,000 (not too accurate but close enough). And you still have insurance, car payments, credit card debts, etc. The essentials and neccesseties of living have greatly increased to the point that no monetary savings is truly viable to avoid and or be prepared for any kind of emergency.

I mean, I'm no economics expert, however some of these things are quite apparent to the "laymen".

yes, we may see the american economy enter into a recession phase...
with the crunching economic numbers being released almost everyday and the financial markets undergoing the turmoil we can expect the US to enter into a recession phase....currently we are hearing that it will enter into a recession phase but soon we can hear it has entered already...

chances of escaping it is unlikely ....the FED may just cut the interest rates again and even the fiscal stimulus package is unlikely to revent a recession at the moment...besides the people believe that the economy is due to slow down...

I am one of those 8 out of 10 people. It has happened before,
but I don't think it will be as bad as 30's,the safe guards are
in place. I just hope government can hold back severe
pain of job . Funny, how history has the tendency to repeat itself. I will follow your questions and answers it is fun. Also
I like to help those that really are looking for good advice.

we are headed straight for a recession in my opinion. the feds keep lowering the interest rate so we can pay our bills, and the banks will not be so free with their money soon... and gold I am sure must be over $900 an ounce, when it is back to $400 an ounce, then you shouldn't worry, but right now, our money isn't worth much.

Im gonna be honest I thought we were in a recession already.

Whether the experts want to admit it...we are in a recession. Now lets look at why..gasoline prices have soared and who has taken an advantage. When you raise the price of transportation goods and services follow suit. If you raise the cost of what a shirt that is manufactured in Atlanta, and that shirt has to make it to NY, what is the underlying reason for the cost to rise? It is not in manufacturing it is in the delivery to its sale destination. It is not a mystery, a C average president may not have studied his economics book too hard while he was in school. Raise the cost of transportation and everything has to be raised to keep up. Maybe he is thinking that people will stop driving and their cars will not emit gases which cause the greenhouse effect? Do you really think that is his thought process? This little Texan needs help.

Already, money in cash form is worthless. Banks offering 1.2% passbook savings???? Americans don't see cash as an asset. Instead, Americans relied upon equity value of their homes rising because of inflation.

Cash isn't an asset. Real Estate is a lousy investment. The rules are changing so fast. We have to wait for the Depression to obtain bargains. Nobody but a Fat Cat wins.

It's called a self-fulfilling prophecy. The economy would have been fine, but someone dropped the 'R' word, and everyone freaked out.

We heard recession, so what did we do? We stopped spending and started saving more. Year end bonuses and raises were a little less generous. People aren't buying houses, because of this mortgage crisis.

We will now be in a recession soon because we told ourselves it would happen, not because it really would have.
