netgrocer went out of business because of the shipping costs - in general, grocery stores operate on thin margins - 2 - 3 % at best.
If you had dried fruits, that would be practical - in fact someone wanted to do that and folks from India mentioned that there was a demand for dried fruits.
Fruits are seasonal and you don't know when you'll get them in (unlike flowers, that can be forced to bloom on demand, technology has some but not all of those answers on fruit yet). Also, spoilage is high, and one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch (no pun intended).
If you had something really exotic, perhaps special dates for Ramanden, that might have a good market in Michigan and other areas in the US with high Islamic populations. |

Probably not. The costs of shipping would be too high since it is perishable and would have to be shipped overnight and packaged not to bruise. |

It depends on the shippong costs to the consumer, but online fruits coule be very practical if you have good sources for the produce and can order on a just-in-time basis, which would give you much less waste than a grocery store. |
