Do you think that someday there really WON'T BE ANY PUBLICALLY traded companies except like a couple?
because the entire world will be owned by just a few people and companies, so you won't see all these millions of dollars of assets in thousands of companies you will just see like 5 companies and THAT'S IT!!! Do you think that will happen why or why not?

No!! Eventually large corporations become unwieldly, and less profitable. Smaller corporations are easier to manage & control.

Couple of examples here (of struggling behemoths) - Citi Group & General Electric. They are already talking about spinning off units of the business.

No

The only people that believe, or even would think that way are people that have no faith or understanding in the American system.

There's no way the any one can and will take away American incentives to have their own corporations or to bring them public.

As long as people have ambitions there will be trading and investments. These same people will always be willing to bring companies public

no, never.

the world could never be monopolised like that unless the entire capitalist system were destroyed, in which case things would start over.

the whole point of money and exchange is for it to work as a sort of game - and similar to monopoly, once everyone else runs out of money and someone wins the game... the game's over, nobody wants to play with you any more so they start a new game.

J. Delm,
yes, more than likely.

No, it is very difficult to manage an extremely large company. It is often more efficient to have several smaller companies rather than one mega company combining the companies in ways that don't complement each other. If your scenario was to come to pass, I'd expect the companies would break themselves up in order to be more efficient and maximize shareholder return.
