At This Point, when Foreign Money Markets stop Accepting the Value of the Dollar as Collateral; and out-right Buy the Commodities, e.g. --Merrill-Lynch....!! |

They always have. The billions of dollars the US is spending to un-bankrupt some companies is a temporary drain on the economy, but, the stock market will adjust and come back to its high margins again.
Or, the US could invest in a war somewhere...that has always backed up Wall Street!!! |

Eventually, yes...as to when, your guess is as good as mine. |

Until the events of this past weekend, I was believing we had started to turn the corner ever so slightly based on commercial construction projects that were now being released after an 18 month hold. Now I'm not sure what to think,,, apparently I am not alone with my confusion either.
I'd like to think next year will be better,,, perhaps that is wishful thinking on my part though. |

No one knows. I think it will take a very long time like 5 or more years to recover. BUT!!! I think that people will ease up their fears and buy into the stock market. So I am saying that stocks will recover before the companies actually do. |

Financial markets will stabilize but we may not be through the rough times yet. Personally, I don't see how we can get through this crises without inflation setting in. Maybe in 2010 we'll begin to see stability in the markets and we can get back to investing long term and actually making money.Or, I could be dreaming! |

Yes, If Obama wins together witha Democratic Congress. Otherwise I am afraid we will be back but even worse. The problems were created by the GOP, and they offer nothing new |

What is happening now historically is kind of scarry because the American Government has purchased a few of these companies. Is this not communism where the government owes the business?
I have no idea. When God tells me I will let you know.

It's an election year.
They'll be stable by the end of the month.
But the news will be bad till Presidential Inauguration on January 20th. |

Yes they'll stabilize.
When? Might take 9 months, might take 3 years.
Whichever candidate wins in November is destined to be a one-term President.
The economy is going to take a while to shake out. |

Yes, once the Chinese, Mexicans, Japanese and Saudis stop lending us money, we go through a retrenchment... (recession) where we become less of a service economy and more of what made os great (manufacturing economy).
2012 or so... until then we live like our grandparents did (collectively within our means, by force)
The REAL problem is ... let me use this analogy
You have a daughter named..uh, let's call her America
She's addicted to this drug called debt.
So, you put her in rehab... but her UNCLE SAM
can't stand to see her shake and have seizures during withdrawal,
so he keeps sneaking her more debt. Problem is, to get clean
American must go through withdrawal...(recession)
and become financially responsible and save after producing.
If Uncle Same keeps giving her the drugs she'll eventually o.d. and die.
So, which do you prefer .. Withdrawal? or... |

The economy is on the upward path of an exponential curve. it is unlikely to sort itself out anytime soon. The economic situation is really unlike anything we've seen in history. The deficit is in the trillions upon trillions of dollars. If the markets do stabilize, it will only be for a short time. We are on the midst of an economic crisis (actually, pretty much in one), and even with the election coming up, I highly doubt this will change, since the candidates are all talk anyway at this point. |
