Do you think the financial markets will keep fluctuating until after the election?
That's what I'm thinking - no one wants to commit until they know which way the country is going. I don't think it will settle down until the election is over (then there will be about another week of shake up and things will settle - that's my expectation.)

What are you thinking?

Yep.... and we're all in deep regardless of which moron is elected. I mean c'mon... in a country as great and as big as ours... these are the best we could come up with...... shameful!

They will fluctuate forever. The market never remains unchanged from the previous day. However, the extreme volatility will subside eventually, but not necessarily before or after the election. I would guess it will continue quite a while to be followed by an almost flat period before moving up for the next bull market.

I expect the volatility to last a lot longer than a week after the election

It will last longer than that.

We are in such a downward spiral now. I wonder when it will settle down and stabilize. Now its not just the US but around the world. I know the government is desperately trying to infuse money into the situation (our hard tax dollars at work!) but it hasn't helped. I'm afraid there are other countries that are alot less stable than we are and we could see another war starting. Iran for instance! Yeah I bet the president of Iran is stressed!

and crashes

Fluctuation until the election? Yes. Then after the election a financial downward spiral.

The current financial problems are only in the beginning stages. It will be WELL after the election before things start to get under control.

Jeffrey H
Fluctuating and decreasing until about a year and a half. It will get a little worse before it gets better.

I think we are in a bear market
I have you ever heard of a bear market dear?
it is not going to end with the election cycle
it has quite a ways to go yet
this is only the 1st leg
we had a bear market that ran from March of 2000
to Oct of 2002
maybe you should go back and take a look at that
to see what a bear market looks like
previous to that
we also had a bear market back in 1973-74
you could also take a look at that bear market
you will see the same pattern

its gonna depend on who the president is cuz thats gonna see how the economy is. but im sorry to say...if mccain wins then he might die quickly...obama has an unfortunate name so he may be assassinated. that may screw up our economy even more. then we would have to deal with the VP's. then that means that they will change it. palin might make it better (look at her wardrobe) she might want ppl to afford what she does. im not sure about obamas running mate tho. idk much about him

Jay
much longer than that. We are in an economic crisis the likes of which we have never experienced. It will take more than a bandaid. even if it is a 700 billion dollar bandaid. Most of that money will not even go where its supposed to.

I don't think the financial markets will improve even after the election. It's for sure going to take a while to get everything back to a 'normal' or stable status
