Do you think the markets will crash now that the bailout has been defeated?
I'm asking this right after the defeat, at 3pm edt
Additional Details
I meant totally crash, as in so far so fast that they have to close them early today. It's looking like there won't be time for that, but who knows? Don't they have to go down 10% for that?

They will surely drop as we have already seen. But the Bill in the House, was close, and their will be lots of arm twisting with the Republicans, as they were the majority against the vote.
So changes in the Bill will be made, to convince them to switch their votes.
The traders in Wall Street, and watching it closely. As the house had 207 votes for and only need 218, only a few Republicans and Democrats need to change their votes.
As most of the public, is either against this bill as it stands, or at least unsure about it, those Rep's who are in a tight race for re-election, will likely vote against this bill. It could cost them their seats in the House.

I hope so. This bailout is a terrible idea. The system is full of greed and corruption and thus have less value. The market has been over inflated and is due for a drop. Things might get a little tough for a while but why should it bother real Americans that the pussy soft skin on the hands of the corporate businessmen might develop some calluses. Why are so many Americans in a hurry to give up working for ourselves and being no-body's b**ch to become more like these greedy businesspeople. Let it freaking fall! I am not afraid!

yes it will drop, but you have to understand that it was a false number or inflated. It will now reset to were the market should be.
this is better for all of us, Had that bill gone thru we were looking at ten years or more of trouble caused by that.

Good Job Senate

The market has been overinflated since the Clinton's were in office - and no that is not a stab a liberals I am just saying that has been the status quo for a long time now

The bail out wouldnt have helped anyway - maybe for a short while - the market might crash but then i think it will go up again.

There is probably going to be more political manuevering on this. You didn't think that politics as usual could be kept out of it,did you?

The NASDAQ is down 6.5%.
I have not seen this sort of steep decline since 9/11. I'd say it crashing as we speak.

it's not the failure of the bailout that will get us, it is people panicking and hoarding. check out history of the causes of the great depression.

dtjr06
Yes it already has been dropping.
