Does anyone know alot about $100 dollar bills?
What does it mean?--"will pay to the bearer on demand"
series no.1950-is it worth anything?

should I keep it or spend it?

Will pay to bearer on demand simply means that the bill is worth the dollar amount printed on it - $100.

There were several $100 bills made with 1950s date - if it is a series 1950A or 1950E it may be worth as much as $150.

Otherwise, it is probably only worth between $105-$110 and the effort to find someone willing to buy it would most likely not be worth it.

Ariana
They are just regular money, but in a higher denomination than most money in our wallets. Hmmmm.....1950? It might not be worth anythingmore than $100, but hold onto it, because it might be one day. Did you know the wheat pennies (the ones that say "one cent" and have pictures of wheat, the really old pennies) are worth about 40 cents (I think, it's probably not the exact number.)

Frank Castle
If you are holding the bill with your hand you are the bearer.

On demand means "at once" or "right now"

You should save it.

Two questions, I supply the following answers:
1) "...pay to the bearer.." A Federal Reserve Bank (or your own) will give you any mixtrure of coins or paper "Federal Reserve Notes" (every-day paper certificates) in exchange for your $100 bill
2) It is worth just as much as any $100 mixture of coins and (paper) bills you otherwise have.

Dude
"Will pay to the bearer on demand" used to appear on US currency because in the 'olden days' the dollar was backed by precious metals (in the 50's it was silver). Back then, you could redeem the $100 for the equivalent amount in silver coins.

It's all about "condition" ! It it's like new, you have something worth keeping. But if it's worn, you'd be lucky to find anyone to give you much more than face value. Collectors want crisp bills. Unless it's a key date...You can go to the library and see if they have a book on paper money. Is it 1950 A,B,C,D ? You also need to know the city where it was printed.
