Post office seems to have the best rates |

You might find your own bank does good rates if you have an account.
I tend to just get cash out of the cash machines abroad - doesn't seem overly expensive. |

Try http://www.crowncurrencyexchange.com/?utm_source=Overture
They actually give a decent rate of exchange and give better deals dependant on the amount of currecny you want. |

The Post Office is by far the best place to buy it. Try and spend it all though - the rates are dire for changing it back.
Also, while abroad, the Nationwide Debit and Credit cards are also very good - they charge no extra like most other cards. |

The best place to change currency is a bank, since it is the safest place where you can deal in monetary transactions. The bureau de change is also another good place to change currencies.
These are places where you are best assured that you are not dealing with rogues, and of course sure you'd not be short-changed, attacked or given fake curencies in exchange for your geniune ones.
You can get banks & bureau de change(s) in most major/international airports sea port and other strategic places, whichever can be more conveniently reached. |

Look at this web page, I changed £15000 into Euros with them recently and they were excellent, and it saved me over £200 over the best bank rate I could find.

Post Office and u don't pay any commission getting it or changing it back. Travel agents say there is no commission but then add on a £3 exchange fee??!! |

perhaps you can try forex. which is also excellent way for you to invest.
The FOREX or Foreign Exchange market is the largest financial market in the world, with an volume of more than $1.5 trillion daily, dealing in currencies. Unlike other financial markets, the Forex market has no physical location, no central exchange. It operates through an electronic network of banks, corporations and individuals trading one currency for another.
