I don't know about it being a "scheme", but i use it all the time. It is actually owned and operated by Ebay, they came up with it as an easy payment method for the on line auction. Mine works two ways, I can have the amount directly come off my credit card or if you have your account verified(which involves having two deposits of less than a dollar put into YOUR account by Pay-Pal, which you then just tell them the amount to verify that you have access to that account.) and it then just comes out of your account as would a wire transfer. I have made 30 to 40 payments using this system and have had no problems. Beware though there is a phishing scam out there that will ask you to reenter your credit card number and your password to continue using your account or you will be removed. I actually spoke to both Ebay and Pay-Pal about this and was told "we will never ask for your password under any conditions and your credit card number will not be asked for verification in email"...hope this helps. |

Our band uses it to sell product, and yes it works. Pretty well really. Haven't had any problems. When we want money, we just have them dump it into our bank account. Hope this helps. |

Yes, it really works. They're owned by eBay and are entirely legitimate. I've used them for thousands of dollars of transactions, never had a problem.
Now here's the bad part: there are millions of spammers out there who send email to anyone and everyone, pretending to be from PayPal. Usually it's something like "urgent your account needs to be updated" and they set up a realistic-looking website that looks and feels just like PayPal.. but it's not. So you enter your account info.. and they start stealing from you.
The solution is simple - PayPal doesn't send out emails. If you want to check on your account, just go to paypal.com and log in. |

paypal works pretty good have had it for a long while and have never had problems with it sending or recieving money just remember too be very careful about giving out your personal information there has been a lot of spam and illigitimate emails being sent out too try and get people to give them there account info, if you suspect it go to the paypal site and email them a copy of what you think its a fake. |
