bent_reticence | Etrade stock: To buy or not to buy? |
At the time of this writing, etrade stock (ETFC) is priced at $4.22. What does everyone think about etrade right now? It's irresistible...if anyone has any negative opinions on this stock , share (before my order goes through =D). Additional Details I bought it at $4.20 (the plan is to short it real soon). Thanks for the feedback guys. |

I've been on the fence for this one too. I've actually been shorting the hell out of it since August and it has turned out pretty. I do think it will go up but not by much. I got calls on it for April. Since you are coming in I would wait a bit. Equity markets net themselves at the end of each month; and as December is a scramble of those trying to meet quotas missed since August, they will shake their books for end of the year discrepencies; all the while all the legal issue will be resolved - basically December's shakeout will make it go up because it's getting hit hard due to word of mouth and I think there is more value there than noted. I would put some calls on it though since the strike price is good. Good luck!

If you are a risk taker go for it. If you are going to feel bad when the stock drops below $1.00 better not. The company is a good company, but unfortunately management screwed up very badly trying to make a few extra bucks. Unfortunately, management is not the one suffering. They share holders are. |

Of course BillyBB is right and it may go lower seeing how the hits from the credit bust just keep on coming, my gut tells me Etrade was oversold and might be in for a nice correction. I would think of buying some calls possibly a bit into the future like an April $5 strike currently at $1.50 and possibly create a diaganol spread by selling a Jan 7.50 strike currently at 0.45 to lower the premium a bit and this strategy will limit your loss to about $1 a share if the stock would indeed tank to $1. On the flip side this will limit a big gain if you believe a big bounce is imminent (before Jan exp.) Good luck |

The stock price has been very volatile recently. If I were you I would stay out of it until clear picture in the fin. markets sustained. Financials might go further down. |

E-Trade has only 2 options, go belly up, or sell to the highest bidder, such as to TD Ameritrade. No one knows which scenario will take place, but if you do buy, and the stock goes up, I'd take my profits and get out. |

Don't buy. They have sunk so low. I put $775.00 in there for a Google, and I am having such trouble getting it out. They might go bankrupt! |

In the financial sector, I have been buying WB (Wachovia) over the last couple days, volume has been soaring off the 52 week low and CEO bought 100,000 shares.
As far as ETFC, that too looks like a long term buy, but I like WB better. |
