Yes friend PAN is made compulsory to invest in MF from 2 july 07, now on you have to attach a self attested copy of your pan card with each application of MF irrespective of amount invested, if you are in Delhi get me at www dot minabazar dot njfundz dot com

Of course it is required as the Permanent Account Number (PAN) has been made the sole identification number for all Mutual Fund Investors as per the circular issued by SEBI and you can view it at

and you can also confirm it though e-mail to mdrao@sebi.gov.in

PAN card is made compulsory from 2nd july 2007 for investments in mutual funds. The investment may be of any amount, PAN is required. If xerox of PAN card is not attached with the application form, the application is rejected.

I want state that prior to 2nd July,2007,there was no need of PAN card for investing in mutual funds but from
2nd July,2007 the PAN card is made mandatory for all the
investors.

pan card not necessary in mutual fund in small savings one Lakh not necessary in post office or insurence and also in bank, if u are earning one lakh inerest in yearly necessary for pan card.
