I would not buy anything. The market is not going up until after the first of the year. Obama is going to raise the capitol gains taxes and everyone is going to sell up until then. The market is going lower. Stay away from stocks. Buy real estate.
The stock market is a big casino, and is not about investing anymore.

I've been playing the same stocks for years. I look for dips and sell when they are high. As for right now, I am buying what I can because the market cant stay down forever.

If you have any money left to play with, you buy stock in companies that you think will survive the next 18 months. I bought a few regional bank stocks last month, because they'll probably do better than the huge giant banks. They'll go through the pain first, and come out of it first. You can also consider relatively safe plays like the kind of staples (food etc.), medical and pharmaceuticals we can't live without. Look for value. Lok for high dividends if you can find them.

i would buy into some American car companies in the near future, the government cant let them go under or else we wont be manufacturing anything here in the U.S. and then we would be into a deep recession if not depression

GM is a real good buy now and it will go back, if you have time to wait.
