Forex is riskier due to leveraged trades. Given the volume involved, the amount of leverage / margin gets amplified, leading to either huge profits or huge loss. For experienced forex traders, though, it's all part of the profit game.

sure forex is more risky than stocks, but also more profitable.

Forex by far. The leverage you need to make a decent return of 10-20% a year is immense and most people, even pro traders have a difficult time controlling their risk. About 95% of forex traders fail within a few months. For stock TRADERS its more like 80% fail. For stock investors (long term) its prob 80% successful (but I am guessing on this stat).

I think forex is riskier because it use bigger margin to trade.

I have been managing funds for clients since 1997, trading in both the stock market and foreign exchange market.

IMO, both are risky, but only if you do not know how to trade. You can also trade stocks using leverage, same as in forex. If you do not want high risk with your trading, then trade with less leverage that you can comfortably handle.

The reason that people think trading foreign exchange has much more risk is this:

When you have a losing position in stocks (with no margin), then you can hold on to that losing position for as long as you want. You can ask any enron shareholders about this. If you bought stocks with a margin account, then your losing positions will eventually have to be closed, or keep adding funds to your account to not get a margin call.

In foreign exchange a trading account is leveratged. When you have a losing position, you will eventually have to close that position. If you want to keep that loser until the market changes back to your favor, you may have to add more funds to your account to keep from getting a margin call.

To eliminate risk, both in the stock market and forex market: trade only small positions, and with money you can afford to lose without affecting your current lifestyle.

Which market is better to trade?
I'd go for the foreign exchange market. Seasoned investors know that what moves the markets at the end of the day, are interest rates.

Hope this helps!

Forex is riskier but much easier if you just buy a trading system (will run you $100).

What you do (and what I did) is make sure the trading system has a 60 day money back guarantee first; then make sure you can use a demo account. A demo account let's you play the trading game with "play money" so you can see if you can profit from the trading system without investing your real cash.

Use the demo account for 59 days and if you see you can make profit you keep the system and invest your real cash. If there's no profit to be made you get a refund; there's literally no risk when buying one.

In most cases forex. Unless you have $100,000 then you have to leverage yourself at around 100:1 to make a profit worth dedicating all the time to studying the market. Basically, remember the higher your leveraged= the greater the risk.

Forex is Best in terms of risk and return.

Forex is definitely a great challenge and rewarding market. It is like a roller coaster ride. I enjoy it thoroughly. it a big risk and reward game. I usually play safe by nullify my risk through diversifying by portfolio and trading through news.

Some of the currencies are worth taking risk and usually profitable in intra-day like EUR/USD, USD/JPY, GPB/USD, EUR/GBP.

But there are certain currencies which are very volatile and risky if we trade intra-day so i usually use hedging techniques there.

My answer to your question would be its worth taking risk if you understand the market well as it is highly rewarding place for intelligent traders.

Forex is riskier. With currencies you are detailing strictly with technical fluctuations of the underlying currency, as a trader. Macroeconomic factors globally are the main driver long term of currency values.

With stocks, you at least have a fundamental basis, cash on balance sheets, etc. to determine value. Stocks can go up and down, but generally, your risk is limited given their is an intrinsic value in the security. The same is not true for currency.

Also, leverage can also impact risk/reward. But, overall, given the increased leverage with forex trades, you can wipes out very quickly as you're learning, with equities you can survive longer as you get skills. And if you can't last, you can't win.

No one can tell you how to beat the game, i'm not claiming that i know how to trade, but i learn about it at university. EVERYTHING affects the forex, this includes the prices of comodities, exports(if price of currency increases then exports become unattractive), imports, etc. Zero sum game, big institutions wait for the most common way to take your money. do not listen to anyone that says FOREX is a market with just buyers and sellers because it isn't. if the market was purely based on home traders, institutions and companies then IT wouldnt matter if the price.. lets say AUD/USD went to 5 AUD for each USD.. but unfortunately it doesnt work like that. i could go on forever, but i thought i should tell you what u should keep inside your head. Stocks on the other hand, wouldnt be such a bad idea to invest in a well known IPO long term as they very rarely fall apart.. usually that occurs only when they have bad managing systems so i would advise looking for a company thats easy to manage.. not really something like a car company cos with businesses like that everyone relies on another. e.g. this part is late makes this production late which makes etc etc. however there are also CFD which is the same as stock trading but using leverage (for example u have 10grand and the broker makes it.. 20grand so each movement in the price doubles for you.. but also consider fact that your risk is doubled. anyways i probably bored you with all this, but its the risks involved. to conclude this they are both the same, really depends how you want to play it, if your gonna put 200 grand of a stupid stock then u will lose a stupid amount, same goes for forex..if you trade fundamental and put a stupid amount on forex you will lose goodluck with whatever you choose
