Honey, hate to break it to you. But yes, you are getting scammed. I work for a travel website and airports in Africa do take international credit cards. Visa and MasterCard anyway.
And she could also use an ATM to retrieve cash from her credit card.
And by the way, just did a web search, there doesn't seem to be a new president in Africa being appointed at this time. |

It has to be a scam. Reporters always know how to get out of sticky situations. If they were having trouble they could go to their country's embassy and they would fix them up. It has to be a scam. Trust your instincts. Also try to find the country she is 'going' to and see if they are actually having elections. |

Call your local police department and ask them about her.
See if she's on their scammers list. If not, they can add her!
There are dozens of iNet scammers out there = most want money from YOU! For whatever reasons..you simply cannot believe the variety of scams. |

Where is she stuck, Nigeria? Tell her to ask the oil ministry if they can help.
They may want your bank acct number and social security number so they can wire you the money so you can sent it to her. They cannot deal directly with foreigners. |

in my opinion its not your responsibility to cover her mistakes like you said she should have done some research before she left on her trip. And if you don't feel comfortable giving her money or you have money to spend on stuff like that then don't give her the money. Does she have family she can call or something. |

You are doing the right thing!!!! Sounds like a major scam to me! Ask her why the people who contract her for work can't pay her or help her. Ask her who she contracts her time with! Tell her to visit the local embassy for help. Sounds like she is full of it!!! If your instincts are telling you there is something wrong, there usually is something wrong! Good job for not giving her the money! I've never heard of an airport not taking international credit cards. Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. |

Hi,
Of course it is a typical African scam. What a nonsence "don't accept credit card"... aren't there banks?. Doesn't she bought two ways ticket with open returning date?I would understand if she told you that she has debit card and some shops don't accept it. But credit card?... Airport?...
Cancel all conversations with her. Respect your time. |

Reporters/Writers cannot be self employed.
Reporters are employed by Newspapers.
Writers are employed by Publishers.
Tell her to call her Embassy. |
