Has anyone heard of a thousand dollar federal reserve note?
looks and feels like an actual dollar but it is larger, states that it is legal tender, drawn on the federal reserve bank of chicago, ill, . 1963 or 64..........they all have the same serial numbers, set of 10 in 1thousand denomonations. anyone any ideas?????????????
Additional Details
I am not saying that it is an actual 1000 dollar bill. It is a federal reserve bank "bank note" It is "fiat"currancy. what i wanted to know is if it is worth more than the paper it's printed on?

The U S did issue federal reserve notes. But the last series was issued in 1934. Contains a portrait of Cleveland. They were of the small size. The last large size 1000 notes were issued in 1918. They contained a portrait of Hamilton.

IAM A COLLECTOR OF RARE AMERICAN CURRENCY-ITS WORTH ONLY FACE VALUE.

If they all have the same serial #, then they are fake! The US doesnt print money with same serial #s.

When you say the year was 1963 or 1964, is that to say you cant read it or you are going by what someone told you? In either case, $1000 notes were not printed during that time. Both the $500 & $1000 notes have not been printed in many decades. Had they been real, they would be worth quite a bit to a collector though.

ADDITIONAL INFO:
I just checked back & saw your added comments. You were not clear in your question which is why you are not getting the answer you are looking for. You had asked if we have ever heard of the bill & you described it. Based on what you said, a real one with that description does not exist.

But, if you want to know if it were real would it be orth something! The answer is yes. In good condition, it would be valued to a collector by at least double the face value. The better the condition, the more its worth.

All "paper" money is the same size. There have been 1000 dollar notes, but yours are probably fake.

There is no difference between a 1000 dollar bill and a 1000 dollar federal reserve not (just as there is no difference between a ten dollar bill and a ten dollar federal reserve bank note).

There are two things that indicate that this is a fake -- the year and the fact that they all have the same serial number. No to Federal Reserve Bank Notes have the same serial number. No large denomated bills were printed in the 1960s.

Money in the early 20th century was larger than it is now -- but by the 1960s, the US had moved to the smaller bill size that it still uses.

You can read more about bank notes and larger denomination currency at the links below.

The thousand dollar bill has Cleveland pictured on the front, was never meant for circulation, and was just made for bank funds transfers long before wire/electronic funds transfers.

Use wikipedia for these sorts of fact based questions, you'll learn alot more!

Salmon P. Chase?

maybe try to spend it on dinner at a real fancy place

they would be ashamed they couldn't make change and that you carry around such a large bill, they might give you the meal free.

It would be god advertising for them. Somebody that rich eats there.
