BarCo | Has your college education been a good investment.? |
College is not cheap, is it worth the cash if you have to pay for it yourself. |

I will finish school in June with $45,000 in loans. My degree? Elementary education. I'll be lucky to get a job teaching for $35,000 next fall. Is it worth it? Yes, but I wish there was another way.
In contrast, my boyfriend quit college after 2 years, and is a real estate agent. He has a client that wants a 6 million dollar house (the commission would be about $120,000.) He thinks education is valuable, but it doesn't have to be through a formal college education.
I also think the difference in job preparation and income potential is extremely unfair, but that's another story. |

It will help more than hurt. What it really depends on is what you can do with what youve learned not just graduate. An important part also is the job market in the field youve chosen. |

It is definitely a very good investment. If you are short on money, their are scholarships, financial aid packets, and many many other options to help pay for your tuition. I believe anyone can go to college if they are motivated enough. Best of luck. |

most of my income is not related to any formal education( real estate investing)
however the local college offers some tech (HVAC) classes that enabled me to get licensed for some of my own repair/service work that has increased profits and was well worth the time and money invested |

Heck, YES!
I went on mostly all loans, am still paying them off.
But if I wouldn't have gone to college, I couldn't have the awesome job that I have now. And the loans are low interest, tax deductible, and if you have trouble paying, you can defer for that month.
Without a question, it was MORE than worth it and has been one of the integral pieces in being able to be a happy adult, financially secure, in a good job that I enjoy.
My husband didn't go to college and kicks himself daily over it. He has to work a much harder job, works much harder than I do, and gets paid much less, without the 'respect' that goes with the position I have. He's a great guy and soooo smart, but without that degree, it is TOUGH. |

I am afraid I can not speak for those who have to pay for a college education today. The cost is almost criminal. When I went to college, the cost was about $1500 a year. It was worth every penny. |

My college education was a total waste. The only things I have really used are things I learned on my own and the things I learned from my mentor. The things that have paid me the most money over the years I never learned in school. |

Hard to say.
I certainly could not be where I am without it, BUT a big part of where I am has been hard work and my early work experience.
BUT the opportunities only presented themselves because I had the education. I wouldn't even get my foot in the door without my degrees. |
