You could get 8% in some banks.
You could also invest your $5000 in business. I have invested in my friend's small business and now I am getting guaranteed 40% annual interest.
I can help you. Send me email through my profile for more information.
I wish you success! |

I understand you question to mean that in 6 months you will need the money so you will invest it for only 6 more months. If so forget about real estate and "hot tech stocks." Go to www.bankrate.com and look for the highest yielding 6 month CD. |

Invest in a safe? LOL.
Since you have an exact time frame then the CD was the best answer.
You don't want to invest in anything that goes up and down in value when you have a date certain when you want the money back.
Everything else, like stocks, you want to sell when the price is high, not on a specific date. Putting a certain date on it greatly increases your risk.
You can get better returns in investments other than a cd OVER time but rarely not at a SPECIFIC time. |

Why would anyone invest in real estate with low interest rates? That tells you home prices are still too high. This is why we have a real estate crisis right now, people do everything backwards. People are running away from stocks, this is the time to buy them. CDs aren't even keeping up with inflation, and gold is in a bubble, don't invest in bubbles! |

Foreign exchange. Jobless numbers are in 4-year high. Feds will not raise interest rates. Short the dollar. |

If you can make the payment every month find something to buy in real estate and rent it out. Look for a good location and the best deal you can find. Plan on hanging on to it for awhile. Now is the time to buy a house. Anything really that will hold that value. Invest in gold? That is sure to go up.
Then again if you are a Christian and take part of that money and use it to spread the Gospel..and you will have treasure in Heaven. |

No don't invest in real estate plus what are you going to invest in real estate with $5k, you should study up on some hot stocks now such as technology companies or something. But don't buy stocks that used to be $50 and are now $15 or $20. think about it. |
