No education will get you a billion dollar job. Or even a million dollar job. Those kinds of earnings (well, the million dollar ones, the billion dollar question is just ridiculous) only come about after many years of working in a field, and/or absolute world class brilliance. And usually not without an entrepreneurial aspect (being the owner of the company)

Your chances of getting that level is slim at best, microscopically slim.

Doctors and lawyers both have high incomes. Business is probably a good training. But you're going to have to work hard, stay in it for the long haul, and perform over a long period of time.

Unless you come up with some brilliant idea and sell it to a dot.com with unlimited pocketbooks.

Outside of entrepreneurs and heirs, some corporate executives become billionaires... but it's really never from their salaries or bonuses. It's from stock options -- which is a security derived from ownership in the business. Still, even such an executive's outcome is far from guaranteed. The company needs to be wildly successful for his option grant to be worth billions. Incidentally, Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, is the first person ever to become a billionaire from stock options.

History shows us that to make billions "from scratch", you must have a sizable interest in a fabulous business.

No "job" does that. The better question is what are your talents and how can you make them unusually valuable to someone else. Traditionally, the math based positions such as actuary or some types of engineers lead the pack, but many are near the bottom too, such as civil engineer. Since wages are based on scarcity of skill, make yourself scarce. You need to be able to do something very valuable for others that greatly improves the well-offness of many. A person making a 50 million dollar per year salary, in order to keep the job, must produce more than 50 million dollars of output savings in others that would not have occured had that person not existed.

So, for example, Warren Buffett the second richest person on Earth until he recently gave it all away to charity, turned a $10 investment in 1965 into $138,700 investment today. Without him, most of those people would have taken that $10 and at most had $100. So he is paid to transform other peoples well being in such a way that no one else can do as good a job.

You will only ever be paid to make other people better off than they would be without you. A person at the counter at McDonald's is paid to make people happier (and with a fuller stomach) than they would be if they did anything else with their time and money. Because many people can do the job, including Warren Buffett if he wanted to, the job pays very little. It adds little and so is paid little.

If you want to make a billion dollars then you have to make other people more than a billion dollars more well off than had you never existed. Think of it this way, there are 6.6 billion people on the planet, you need to make every one of them about 15 cents better off than had you never been borne to get a million dollars.

Good luck, I would like to be better off because you were born.
