You are looking for a Direct Stock Purchase Plan.
Go to this link at Computershare
https://www-us.computershare.com/investor/plans/planslist.asp?stype=dspp
Companies like Pfizer, Aqua America, Lockheed Martin and Bank of America charge nothing to buy their stock on a monthly basis and you can buy your first share from them.
Others like AT&T, Ford, Home Depot or Texas Instruments charge minimal fees, and you can still buy your original share from them. |

Some of the above answers are not quite true. Companies that offer a dividend reinvestment program allow you to buy shares after the initial purchase of one share. (yes, you'll need a broker to buy the first share) Some of the companies that offer this are: Johnson & Johnson, Harley Davidson, General Electric, Cambell Soup, and the list goes on and on. You don't need to buy full shares either under this plan, you can just send them a dollar amount and they will issue partial shares. You get monthly statements from them and you can cash out fully or partially when ever you want. |

If you have at least $2500 in your account, then you can get 10 free trades with zecco.com. Works for me!
I am guessing that 99% of the time though if you go through the company, you will be paying at least some kind of fee. So check out zecco. |

Through IPO u can get directly fom the concerned copany, without paying brokerage BUT u want to buy listed company on BSE/NSE stock list,at market price u will get and that to througgh recognised brokers only.
Once u put order and ur price clicks to market rate u broke takes over responsibility tpay seller and give delivery of the ordered stock surely intime otherwise they get declared the seller defaulter and gert ur ordered stock from the exchange by declaring auction, and for all these guaranteed assured transactions, broker charge u. |

Simple answer, no. If you look at the discount/online brokers, their commissions are under $10 a trade regardless of how many shares you buy. That is not a lot of money. |

There are IPOs, DRIPS and some broker promos. With IPOs and DRIPs you will probably need to pay to sell eventually.
Commissions are so small right now, don't worry about them. You will lose more in opportunity by limiting yourself to commission free activity than you would have spent on the commissions in the first place. |

You have to use a broker/dealer to buy securities
Public companies are prohibited from dealing directly with the investing public.
Barry - most of the DRIP plans are handled by the transfer agent or registrar and not the company itself. You can only buy one particular stock with each agent so if you're going to be an investor DRIPs are not a way to go |
