How can I invest in ethanol?

You can buy stock in Archer Daniels Midland. But the price has already gone up quite a bit because lots of folks are doing this.

brandon
Some commercial ranches have openly traded stock. I don't know a specific one though.

This one is relatively stable, technically looks ok to buy right now too

XNL(Xethanol) its based in Iowa and has expanded around the country....just remember though, Ethanol costs $150 a barrel to produce....They do get benefits/breaks from the Govt so far.

There are numerous companies that make ethanol. Pacific Ethanol , Archer-Daniels Midland, Verasun, etc. You just have to research a little to find some decent stocks. Start with the ticker symbol PEIX.

Good luck!!!

If you are talking about two hours of happines, just go to the liquor store and buy a Guinness. Maybe you need to find a company that makes it large scale for cars if you mean that.

Pacific Ethanol, Inc. (PEIX) is one company, another is Sassol which is a large South African company that specializes in converting non-petroleum feedstocks into gas and liquid fuels. Or you can buy into a mutual fund concentrating on alternative fuels.

Ethanol production is largely subsidised by the government, either directly or through corn subsidies. Bearing in mind ethanol as a viable fuel alternative to gasoline is an utter farce given the ammount of fuel produced per acre, if you're looking to get involved in sustainable energy from a moral/ethical perspective, I'd suggest investigating biodiesel. If you're just trying to turn a buck on what's apt to be a growth market have a look at http://www.distill.com/usa.html
there's a number of companies both private and publically traded on the list. Enjoy.
